What's the difference between fishtail and peterson bit tobacco pipes?

I want to get my husband a nice tobacco pipe as a surprise for when he gets back from Afghanistan. The site gives me the option to choose fishtail or peterson bit before i add the pipe to my cart, But i have no idea about these things. What are they and what one is better?
