Ear piercing question (help!)?

I've had my ears pierced about 4 years ago and they got infected somehow.. I thought I was cleaning it correctly but while the ear was healing it got infected and I had to take it out. I don't know if it was an allergic reaction but I think I had a white silver stud and usually people don't get infections from it. I wanna pierce my ears this week, should I take the chance? Theyll be using the white silver one on me again.. Will I be fine? Or will it get infected again??
